Self Portrait as Nutty Professor

This is my first attempt at using charcoal and white chalk on tinted paper. It was actually pretty fun. I never draw with charcoal because for some weird reason I was scared of it.

Oh, I know why - because before I went to Studio Escalier, no art teacher had ever bothered to tell me that I could sharpen it like a pencil, so I was always drawing with a dull stump of charred vine.

Anyways, I totally look like a nutty professor in this one, and I think it's pretty funny.

About the only thing I could draw with was charcoal. It took me a long time to learn how to use pencils. I learned to draw on the charcoal stubs. Messy, messy! Your work is devine :)
