A funny little nugget of painting goodness. I am trying to make time for painting again, so I thought I would start small.

Aurora, Self-Portrait, Poster Study

I'm dying to find a model to pose for me - I want to paint all these lovely figurative poses, and I have to try to jam myself into them while painting! I do like how this little study came out. I was loosely inspired by a Guerin painting in the Louvre which I love.

The Bather - Oil Painting Fragment on Linen Mounted on Wood Panel

This painting was an emotional rollercoaster for me, which is probably the main reason I didn't finish it. I struggled with feeling too studious and academic throughout the process, to the point where I just wasn't enjoying myself anymore. Add to that the fact that I was struggling to survive spending the New England winter living with my parents! I'm lucky I got this far! I will be posting new work regularly again, and I am going to start experimenting with some new ideas, so stay tuned!

Day Five of The Bather Painting

I added the second ear here. Slowly but surely...

Day Four of the Bather Painting

I think somewhere in here I forgot to photograph a day - but you get the idea! This painting is proving to be a struggle - the more I paint, the more things I see that I need to fix.

Day Three of The Bather Painting

I spent more time on this during the third session, although like I said, it's hard to keep this mask on for two long (it was probably about three hours for this session). I'm hoping to finish the face quickly so I can move on the the body and hands and I won't have to put the mask on every time for that!
