I never knew I would be a painter. After going to school for theatre, I
moved to New York City to pursue acting. In the meantime, I began
figure modeling for various artists throughout the city. The more I
modeled, the more my interest in visual art grew.
Then my whole life changed when I was given the opportunity to travel to France to model at Studio Escalier, a small studio school run by two American teachers. Their lessons fascinated me as I listened from the model stand, and I had a sneaking suspicion that I could apply the lessons that I was hearing.
Two years after I first modeled there, in 2006 I ended up on the other side of the easel as a student, taking my first "real" art class. I have never looked back.
