Chubby Brass Teapot - 5"x7", oil on gessoboard

I pretty much never say this about my own paintings, but I can actually say that I love this painting. I totally got in the zone while painting it. The key is drinking a latte on the drive home from work. That keeps me painting for a solid six hours.

I did an underpainting with this one, which I haven't done with my other small paintings.

Prints and Charity Auction

I have posted three prints on my Etsy site of the White Teapot, Rusty Handled Teapot, and Black Teapot for sale, so check them out! They are beautifully printed by a local Rhode Island company who does amazing work!

Also, I have donated my painting Nose Hair Trimmers to Art in a Box, a charity for Aids Orphans and Children at Risk.
The opening will be December 15th at Cheryl Pelavin Fine Arts, so if you're in the area, stop by! Opening bids start at $75, and all proceeds go to the charity. The work for sale will be viewable online December 1st.
Stay tuned for a new teapot tomorrow!

One Bra Strap - 4"x6", oil on cradled board

I think I'm officially going to start a "Crazy Face" series. This will be number two in the series thus far. Seriously, why am I so creepy?

I didn't actually crop off my ear in the painting, but this is the best I could do for a photo for now. If you click on the link to Etsy, there are three different views of the painting to give you a better idea.

Neil Nelson = Awesome Painter!

I just wanted to post to give a quick shout to a great painter and fellow Studio Escalian, Neil Nelson. Neil recently started his own painting blog which documents his process, and his work is really amazing. Check his blog out: Hours and Days. Thanks!

Black Teapot - 5"x7", oil on gessoboard

The colors in this picture aren't entirely accurate, as usual, but it's fairly close. I really tried to work in everything I saw in the reflections this time, including myself. It was a fun challenge.

Buy Handmade!

I'll be posting a new teapot tomorrow morning, but I just wanted to post a quick shout about how awesome Etsy is (and not just because I have a shop there!). I took the Handmade pledge to buy all of my holiday gifts from fellow artists and crafters this year, and so far it has been a joy.

Not only have I managed to find something amazingly special for everyone on my list, I'm helping support the arts community! I can't say enough about the kind and talented people who I've found on Etsy. Give it a browse if you have a minute!

My shop and blog are now also linked to All Things Handmade, a blog maintained by fellow Etsy sellers, so check that out too!

Rusty Handled Teapot, 5"x7", oil on gessoboard

So cranky right now...just tried to photograph this outside, and almost lost the painting to the wind.

Needless the say, the colors of the actual painting are brighter/less yellow. As soon as I get a sunny day (i.e. next June), I'll retake the photo.

In the meantime, enjoy!
