Day Three of form painting Eliza
We took a two day break from the Eliza pose and painted JMP, which I will post later this week. Eliza is back today and this is what I got done for the day. There are only two more days left of this pose, so I won't get to finish, which is a bummer. but oh well. After this we have one more 60 hour pose, so maybe, just maybe, I will finish something...

Day Two of painting Eliza
Six more hours of work. I'm really, really trying to vary the hue, value and chroma with every stroke, AND make shapely strokes. It is very tiring. But amazingly fun.
Day One of painting Eliza
This is day one of form painting Eliza. This is six hours of work, and it comes out to about one square inch of canvas. Okay, maybe two square inches. I am happy with how it's going so far and really enjoying painting.
Line drawing for Eliza painting
Not super exciting, but I figured I would document the whole process. I actually did a pencil drawing that I worked on (and struggled, cried, fretted over) for four or five days, and then transferred that drawing onto canvas.
Poster Study for Eliza Painting
Here is the poster study for the painting of Eliza I am currently working on. It's a fabulous pose, and I have a great spot on the rim light side of the room. She looks like a mermaid - I love it! I only hope I can do her justice.

Last day of form painting Juan Michael
My last session on this painting. There is never enough time. Happily though, I feel like I learned a lot. I've started a new form painting of Eliza which I will start posting in the next day or two. Stay tuned!
Day Five of Form Painting
Day five of form painting...I misinterpreted the way the cheek was rolling into the light, which I only figured out afterwards. I fixed it up a bit, but I still don't like the way it looks. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Day four of form painting
The colors between the muzzle and the cheek aren't as well integrated as I would like them to be. Hopefully I will have time to work back into that section. Only two days left!!
Day three of form painting
I had enough time to work back into the lips and muzzle section and vary the colors a little more on this session, which was fun. Hopefully I'll get to do more of that as I move on!
Day two of Form Painting
Here's the progress on my second day of form painting. I need to pick up the pace a bit so I have more time to paint back into things. But other than that, so far so good I guess.

Form Painting Hooray!
I am so excited to finally be actually painting! I'll post in process pictures of this as I go, so stay tuned for updates all week. This is a photo of the initial drawing transfer, and my first day's worth of form painting. I didn't get to paint back into the forehead as much as I'd hoped, but it's a start.

First drawing of Eliza
This is a 12-ish hour drawing I did of Eliza this week. I absolutely adored this pose, and she is a great model. She totally looks like a superhero. I feel like I started to absorb and apply a lot of ideas I've been struggling with in this drawing, so that felt good.

Vacation!
This is a quick little attempt at landscape painting that I did while we were on our week long break. Gary and I went to Ile de Re, which is a small island off the coast of La Rochelle. We had a great time - lots of sun, bike riding, and beach! (And a little bit of painting too)
Egg Rounding Studies
These are my first and second egg rounding studies that I did outside of class. Can you tell that class is exhausting me? I have absolutely nothing clever to say!
