Hey Harmony - all those deleted comments are mine: I am at my farm in upstate NY and the internet is really slow, so i kept hitting "publish" thinking nothing was happening. Anyway, I am really impressed that you are painting this cool self-portrait. It is coming along beautifully - but how is your skin doing?
Hi- I love your blog! I was wondering if it's your artistic style to complete the painting section by section, or is just better technique? (if there's a why, do include it please)
Kelsey - thanks for a great question! I can't say if it's "better" technique, but it definitely is a specific process having to do with the way the scene is lit. Going section by section helps me to "key" the painting - meaning not making something too light or too dark when it shouldn't be. If you skip all over and work on different sections, it makes it a lot more difficult to get that cohesive, lit feel.
