The beach at twilight, oil on cardboard, 4" round

Another lovely evening at Mackerel Cove...thinking about the summer ending makes me sad. The grocery store in town posted their "winter hours" today, effective September 3rd. Sniff.

Sunset, oil on cardboard, 4" round

This was an attempt at painting with a palette knife. I think it looks cool, but it was way too messy for me.

Charlotte and Laurel, underpainting

Here is the underpainting for my current project. I have issues with it, which I intend to resolve in the final pass. I am enjoying working on this painting - I like the scene, especially the landscape in the background. I am working on a cradled board, and it's about 12"x12" (I think?)

Lake at Mountain View, NY, oil on canvas, 3"x4"

I painted this this weekend at Gary's parents cottage in upstate NY. And by upstate, I mean, we had to drive 8 hours each way to get there. It was beautiful though - right in the Adirondacks. Unfortunately, this painting got sprinkled with dirt particles on the 8 hour ride back...note to self: make a wet painting carrier....

Cornwall Bridge, Cornwall, CT, oil on masonite, 8"x6"

I painted this little number the weekend before last while at home visiting my parents in Northwest CT. I used the new landscape easel that the best boyfriend ever gave me for my birthday.
